News Release

AIR NEW ZEALAND

The Securities Commission confirmed today that it has received a request from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) relating to Air New Zealand.

Commission Chairman, Jane Diplock, said ASIC is seeking support in ascertaining whether Air New Zealand has fully complied with its disclosure obligations under New Zealand law and the Listing Rules of the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZSE).

One of the Commission's functions under the Securities Act is to co-operate with overseas securities commissions.

"We will be talking to ASIC about the nature of the support ASIC is seeking in relation to Air New Zealand," Jane Diplock said.

The Commission is also in discussion with the Market Surveillance Panel which is responsible for the NZSE's Listing Rules.
