Verification Tricks Used by Telephone Share ScammersOverseas firms calling New Zealanders often refer to agencies with official-sounding names to prove their authenticity. These official sounding agencies are in fact an extension of the bogus firm itself. Representatives at these agencies sound convincing and authoritative when they talk about the overseas firm in question. Like the overseas firms these official- sounding agencies listed below have failed to provide evidence of their registration and jurisdiction to the Commission. This list is not exhaustive. If you are referred to an agency that is not mentioned in the list it does not mean that the agency is genuine. It is better to buy shares in overseas firms through New Zealand brokers accountable under New Zealand.
